Small intestine microbiota of chickens is usually of quite simple composition (for additional details see here or here). Different lactobacilli species, Romboutsia timonensis (family Peptostreptococcaceae, also known as Clostridium XI) and Turicibacter sanguinis (family Erysipelotrichaceae) are recorded the most frequently. Romboutsia timonensis is closely related to Clostridium difficille. Helicobacter, Fusobacterium and E. coli can be found in small intestine of chickens as well.
